Coaches

Coach Tyler Soukup has joined the Plano West Wolves after six years at Hebron as the run game coordinator, offensive line coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks’ coach. Before Hebron, Soukup also coached and taught at Richland High School, where his team reached the playoffs twice. Coach Soukup earned his bachelor's degree from Kansas State University, then served as undergraduate assistant coach. During his time at Kansas State, the program made bowl appearances at the Holiday Bowl (2003) and Fiesta Bowl (2004) and captured a Big 12 Championship (2003).

Coach Soukup, his wife Lana and their three sons, Reid, Eli, and Sawyer, are now proud members of the Blue Nation!

Coach Stephen Tyler returns to Plano West after 3 years as the offensive coordinator at Spring Hill High School in Longview, Texas. Prior to his years at Spring Hill, he coached in Plano for 10 years in the West feeder pattern at Renner Middle School, Jasper High School, and Plano West Senior High. Coach Tyler is a graduate of Plano Senior High School, and Stephen F. Austin State University.

Coach Tyler, hIs wife Danielle, and their two boys, Jake and Cody, are happy to return home to family and proud to be in the Wolfpack!

Todd Moody is in his 26th year of coaching. He has served as a Defensive Coordinator, AD/Head Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the last 21 years at North Mesquite, LCM, Temple, Willis and Euless Trinity.

Coach Moody and his wife Leslie have five children, Lauren, Alex, Haley, Corinne, and Cade. Also, two recent grandchildren Ella, 2 and George, 9 months.

Coach Brandon Spencer joined the Plano West Wolves before the 2018 season. He attended Coppell High School and is a graduate of Trinity University. He started coaching 2011 at Willowridge High School in Fort Bend ISD, followed by a tenure at W.T. White High School in Dallas ISD. During his time at Trinity University, he won 3 conference championships and made an appearance in the Stagg Bowl in 2002.

Coach Caleb Ryon has coached for seven years and he coaches running backs. He is a graduate of Euless Trinity High School and Texas A&M University. Prior to coaching in Plano Coach Ryon coached in Caldwell, Texas and at the German University in Cairo, Egypt.

Coach Ryon is married to Ruth, and they have six month old son, Nathaniel. His interests include being involved in his local church, watching football, traveling, hunting, fishing, and nearly any outdoor activity.

Colby Pate coaches the Defensive Ends at Plano West, and he has coached for 15 years. Graduated from Plano Senior High School where he was fortunate to win a state championship in football. He holds a degree from Texas A&M Commerce.

The interests of Coach Pate include watching football, road trips, walking trails around the city and living life.

John Goff coaches the Defensive Tackles at Plano West. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He has coached in Plano ISD for 5 years and graduated from Texas A&M University. While at Texas A&M University, Coach Goff played in the Texas A&M Polo Club and was voted to become a Polo Officer during his first year.

It was while playing Polo, where he met his wife. He is married to Kathleen Goff, and they enjoy spending their time traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with their family, friends and two dogs.

Keith LaFlower is the Defensive Backs coach for the Plano West Wolves. This is his fourth year teaching and coaching for Plano ISD, and he has nine collective years of coaching experience. Coach LaFlower teaches PE at Centennial Elementary and coaches football and softball at Plano West Senior High. Coach LaFlower graduated from Forney High School and attended Texas A&M University – Commerce where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in English and his Master’s degree in Educational Administration.

Coach LaFlower is married to his beautiful wife, Jessi LaFlower, who teaches health and coaches volleyball and basketball at Jasper High School. His wife Jessi also helps coach softball at Plano West. When he is not coaching, Coach LaFlower’s hobbies and interests include: raising livestock, playing and watching sports, serving in his church and throughout the community, and hanging out with his wife, family, and friends.

Thomas Hightower coaches the defensive backs for Plano West and has coached for 15 years. Graduated from Tatum High School and played for a state championship in 1996. Coach Hightower graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University and a 4-year letterman. He coached for 9 years in Daingerfield winning 3 state championships in 2088, 2009, 2010 and again in 2012.

Coach Hightower has an 18-year-old son Taylor Hightower who plays basketball at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. His hobbies include going to the movies, watching anything sports related and spending time with family and friends.

Jayson Boyd has 18 years of coaching experience. Coach Boyd attended Harding University for one year, then graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Communications. He also attended The University of North Texas where he earned his Master’s degree in Educational Administration.

Coach Boyd is married to Elvira Boyd and they have two children; Cody Boyd and Taylor Boyd Lemoine. Coach Boyd enjoys traveling around the world, writing and playing music, serving in his church, and watching football and the Olympics.

Alan Tapia (Tap) is the Athletic Utility Assistant for the Wolfpack. He graduated from Plano Senior High School, and immediately joined the district. He has been at Plano West for 17 years. When Tap is not up at school, he enjoys watching all sports!

 

Trainers

Courtney Goree has been taking care of sports injuries in Plano West athletics for 17 years. He graduated from Beckville High School and got his Bachelors of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. He received his Masters of Education in 2002.

When he is not caring for the Wolfpack, Courtney likes to watch sports, fish, cook, listening to music and singing!

Allen graduated from Plano East high school, and got his Bachelors of Science degree from The University of North Texas in Denton. He received his Masters of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. When he is not helping the Pack, he enjoys mountain biking, hiking, trail running and swimming
