Coach Tyler Soukup is entering his season as the Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator at Plano West. He joined the Wolfpack after seven years at Hebron High School where he served as offensive coordinator, quarterbacks’ coach, run game coordinator, and offensive line coach. Prior to Hebron, Coach Soukup coached and taught social studies at Richland High School for 7 seasons. Coach Soukup earned his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 2004. While at Kansas State, he served as an undergraduate assistant coach on Hall of Fame Coach Bill Snyder’s staff. During his time at Kansas State, the program made appearances in the 2003 Holiday Bowl, the 2004 Fiesta Bowl, and captured a Big 12 Championship in 2003.

Coach Soukup and his wife, Lana, have 3 sons, Reid (16), Eli (14), and Sawyer (3).

Coach Moody is the Defensive Coordinator and Associate Head Coach. He is in his 27th year in education. He has coached at Euless Trinity, Willis, Temple, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, North Mesquite prior to joining the Plano West staff.  He and his wife, Leslie, have five children and two grandchildren.

Coach Leland Slagle coaches defensive backs. He is entering his second year coaching overall, including at West. He graduated from Lewisville High and holds a degree from UNT. He and his wife, Sara, have a newborn daughter named Harper and a dog named Charlie. Coach Slagle teaches World Geography at Jasper High.

Coach Colby Pate coaches defensive ends. He has coached for 17 years. He holds a degree from Texas A&M Commerce. Coach Pate teaches Elementary PE at Mitchell Elementary.

Coach Rick Oestricher coaches defensive tackles. He is entering his fifth year of coaching and second year in PISD. He graduated from Richland High School in Fort Worth and graduated college from the University of North Texas with a degree in History. He is married to Ali, who is a counselor at Centennial Elementary.

Coach Stephen Tyler is the Offensive Coordinator and coaches the offensive line. He begins his 16th year coaching, 13 of those in Plano ISD. He coached in Plano for 10 years in the West feeder pattern at Renner Middle School, Jasper High School, and Plano West Senior High as the offensive line coach. He spent 3 years at Spring Hill High School as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, before returning to Plano in 2019. Coach Tyler is a graduate of Plano Senior High School, and Stephen F. Austin State University.

Coach Tyler, his wife Danielle, and their two boys, Jake and Cody, are happy to return home to their family and proud to be in the Wolfpack!

Coach Brandon Spencer coaches offensive line and tight ends at Plano West. This is his fourth year coaching at Plano West and 10th year coaching overall. He graduated from Coppell High School and attended Trinity University in San Antonio. Before Plano West, he coached at Willowridge High School in Fort Bend ISD and W.T. White High School in Dallas ISD.

Alan Tapia (Tap) is the Athletic Utility Assistant for the Wolfpack. He is in his 23rd year at West. He graduated from Plano Senior High.

Coach Ryan Stone coaches running backs at Plano West. This is his first year with the program and third year coaching. His previous stop was at North Mesquite High School. He graduated from Texas A&M University Commerce with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He just married his wife, Meaghan, in May of 2021.

Coach Michael Sidberry coaches receivers. This is his first year with the program and his eighth year coaching. His previous stop was at Hebron High School. He graduated from Texas College in Tyler, Texas with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. He is married to Maci and they have two children, Amari and Myka.

Coach Joe Chaney entering his 24th year in coaching and his first year at Plano West. He graduated from Coppell High School and received a football scholarship to play quarterback at University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He received his B.A. in Kinesiology and minor in Education. Coach Chaney had previous stints at Denton ISD, Irving ISD, Lewisville ISD, Mesquite ISD, Dallas ISD, and Houston St. Thomas High School. He also coaches quarterbacks at Plano West. The Chaney family includes his wife of 19 years, Dr. ReeDee Granado-Chaney, and their two children, Jett and Jalen.

Coach Thomas Hightower coaches the defensive backs for Plano West and has coached for 15 years. He graduated from Tatum High School and played for a state championship in 1996. He then graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University and was a 4-year letterman. He coached for nine years in Daingerfield winning three state championships in 2088, 2009, 2010 and again in 2012.

Coach Hightower's hobbies include going to the movies, watching anything sports-related and spending time with family and friends. He has an 18-year-old son, Taylor, who plays basketball at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas.

Coach Chris Howard coaches JVII offensive and defensive line. He is a first-year coach. He is an alumnus and a former football player and wrestler of Plano West Senior High School. He has a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and minor in History.

Coach Danzel Green coaches JVII wide receivers and defensive backs. This will be his seventh year coaching and his first with Plano West. He graduated from Texas Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and minor in History. He has been married for five years to his wife, Angelica.



Courtney Goree has been taking care of sports injuries in Plano West athletics for 19 years. He graduated from Beckville High School and got his Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. He received his Master of Education in 2002.

When he is not caring for the Wolfpack, Courtney loves to be with his wife, Kimberly and daughter, Elise. They reside in Beckville, Texas and he also likes to watch sports, fish, cook, and listen to music.
